Divine Life Church had its first service on July 31, 2005. The church was birthed as a result of God putting the people of the community in the heart of Pastor Wade. Pastor Wade grew up in the Alcy Ball community. He remembers the community being beautiful, safe and vibrant. There were mostly two parent homes and parents didn't have to worry about their children being recruited by gangs or approached by a drug dealer. After leaving Memphis to attend college and shortly afterwards marrying First Lady Felecia, Pastor Wade returned only to find that he was out of touch with his community. He noticed that the community was deteriorating and becoming infiltrated with gangs, drugs, prostitutes, and single parent homes. As a result, God put it in Pastor Wade's heart to start reaching out to the children in the community through Repairing the Breach Outreach Ministry. Children of all ages come to receive the gospel message of Jesus Christ in a fun filled outreach service. Many children prayed to receive Christ as their Lord but Pastor Wade noticed they would go home to their same negative environment. The children needed a place where they and their family could be nourished and shepherded. That is when God put it in Pastor's heart to start the Divine Life Church "a church of hope and purpose". The mission is to: Reach the Lost, Bring Back the Scattered, Heal the Broken and Strengthen the Weak.
Currently many who are lost are being saved. Several parents whose children were participating in the youth outreach ministry have joined Divine Life Church. Their lives are being changed by the preached word and by the spirit of God who manifest in the services weekly. We are proud to say that the Divine Life Church has members who are actively running with the vision. They assist in the various ministries offered to the community and congregation alike such as children's ministry, hospitality, praise team, men, women and marriage fellowships and more.
The short term goal of the Divine Life Church is to simply continue to do the will of the Father for the community, city, state, nation and world. We plan to continue to reach the lost and restore people who have strayed from God for various reasons such as being abused by a spiritual leader whether emotionally, or physically. We realize that there are broken people in the church pew and we believe that God has call our church to minister healing and bring wholeness. We plan to reach even more people in the community through innovative ministry techniques. We are excited about where we have come from, where we are and most excited about where we are going.
